FREEDOM FROM FUSSINESS

We recently had a mama bring her four-month-old little girl, Amanda*, into the office: this little lady was fussy, was prone to ear infections, and was struggling with reflux. They tried medication for the reflux, and it helped, but mom knew she didn’t want to do that long-term, so she was seeking help to get her little’s body back on track, with an end goal of ending her need for medication. After Amanda had her first few adjustments, mom thought she was potentially getting another ear infection. This little girl, at four months old, had already had two ear infections! This had the potential to be discouraging, but we were able to sit down with mom and let her know that her baby’s body was gaining a lot of good momentum, her body was figuring things out, and she was getting connected the way she needed to! Because of the stresses on her little self, her body was having to learn all these things it didn’t get a chance to learn before.

One specific day, we recommended that mom nurse her after her adjustment so that Amanda was able to relax and integrate that adjustment well. Once they finished, they came out and mom said that she has never nursed that well when she was getting an ear infection! Usually, Amanda didn’t nurse well, didn’t eat much, and was frequently upset. Suffice to say, when they visited her pediatrician, it was declared that there was no infection and her ears were clear! Her body cleared on its own and she didn’t need more intervention! This, along with the fact that allowing Amanda’s body to learn to heal on its own has led to less fussiness and uncomfortableness, has been a weight off the shoulders of mom and dad. Previously, her parents could not set her down for long because these things were such a struggle. On their last visit, mom shared that she was able to set Amanda down and get stuff done around the house, even with Amanda’s twin and older sibling there as well! What began as a baby dealing with some big struggles and bringing stress to a family became a happy, healthy little whose mom could now care for and enjoy all three of her children!
